The magical Kangia River is our widest and fastest-flowing river, cutting through a valley that has a way of making you feel wonderfully small. The water runs crystal clear, lit with a rare turquoise tint — the unmistakable signature of pure glacial meltwater. A river with a reputation that stretches far beyond this valley.
And then you see it for yourself. You stop and take a deep breath. The hike wasn’t too bad — it’s the view that demands more oxygen. The Kangia Valley opens up before you, vast and wild, the river running like a lifeline through the landscape.
From the hilltop, you can follow it all the way to the waterfall. In gentle bends and perfect runs, it threads its way through a tundra of Arctic willow and dwarf birch, the open valley interrupted only by ancient boulders and steep mountainsides sculpted by the last great ice age. It’s irresistible for the adventurous fly angler. You want to fish every promising run before the day ends. But you won’t have the time. Not in a day. Not in a week.
