Erfalik is where skating foam flies for Arctic char—today a method synonymous with fly fishing in Greenland—first saw the light of day. It is thanks to Erfalik’s prolific fishery that fly fishers from around the world began to recognize Greenland as an outstanding fly-fishing destination. 

The fishing here is so varied that you might have a hard time deciding where to begin. The first pools on the lower river always hold fish. And while you may want to catch a few, it would be a shame not to see more of what Erfalik has to offer. 

From the gently flowing lower stretches, the river turns into boulder water and later divides into channels. After the second waterfall, the canyon begins. Sometimes we fish it, but more often we hike around it and continue all the way to Paradise Valley.
